Introduction to SMS Broadcaster
SMS Marketing is a cost
effective, quick and easy way
for you to reach an entire
customer database of potential
buyers. Use broadcaster to
inform your customers about an
upcoming sale, event, or offer.
With the added bonus to handle
replies from your broadcasts,
you can also take anyone off
your marketing list, who no
longer wants to receive your
information. Simply configured
your broadcast SMS campaigns to
include reply STOP for your
customers who wish to opt-out.
Example: Reply STOP to Opt-Out
at the bottom of an SMS. Spam
Act 2003 Laws Apply.
2.
Logging In
SMS
Broadcaster is located
in the Black tool bar,
below.
This will allow you to
access the broadcaster
system, with all replies
to be associated to your
Username.
3.
System Layout
The main screen is displayed
below:
There are a number of
options/features on this
interface & steps to follow.
Please refer to the below user
guide for information regarding
the usage of each of these
options and features.
4.
Supported SMS Broadcast types:
You can use the broadcaster to
meet all your outbound SMS
broadcasting needs.
You have a number of options
with this interface:
1. Send the message associated
to the number
2.
Send the same message to
everyone
3. Mail merge a message to send
These
correspond to the options in
Step 2, which are as follows:
1. Message in second Column
2. Send same message to all
recipients
3. Mailmerge into template
4A.
Broadcast Type 1: Message in
second column.
This broadcast type allows you
to select an excel document in
which you can have two columns:
Phone Number à Message
This option
provides the potential for
different messages to be sent to
all recipients, yet transferred
simultaneously.
This has been thoroughly tested
and has been proven to allow
simultaneous transfer of up to
15,000 messages in the
fashion displayed below (Each
recipient potentially receiving
a completely different message):
FIG 4.1. The Quick Preview for
“Message in second column”
The below image displays a
quick preview of the
messages to be sent in the
“Message in second column”
method detailed above:
Note:
The quick preview only displays
the first 5 messages,
whereas still details that there
are 6 to be sent
4B.
Broadcast Type 2: Send same
message to all recipients
This broadcast type allows you
to select an excel document in
which you can have just a single
column: Phone Number
After selecting the entries form
the excel document that you wish
to contact, simply type the
message in the text box that
appears below your Step 2
options (up to160characters).
This broadcast type has also
been thoroughly tested and has
been proven to allow
simultaneous transfer of up to
25,000 messages in the
fashion displayed below (all
recipients receiving the SAME
message):
FIG 4.2. The Quick Preview for
“Same message to all Recipients”
The below image displays a
quick preview of the
messages to be sent in the “Same
message to all recipients”
method detailed above:
Note:
The quick preview only displays
the first 5 messages,
whereas still details that there
are 6 to be sent
4C.
Broadcast Type 3: Mailmerge into
Template
This broadcast type allows you
to select an excel document in
which you can have multiple
columns: Phone Number à variable
1 à variable 2 à variable 3 à
etc…
This broadcast type has also
been thoroughly tested and has
been proven to allow
simultaneous transfer of up to
15,000 messages in the
fashion displayed below (all
recipients receiving a
completely TAILORED
message)
This summary will
display after you paste
your data in order to
detail the corresponding
tag for each field of
data. If you copy from
an excel document column
headers, in this
example, you would have:
[1] NAME, [2]
AGE, [3] Year of
Birth, [4]
Suburb.
The Phone number must
ALWAYS be in the
first column. In the
case of column headers,
this first column would
be ignored as “Phone”
would NOT be
classified as a valid
number.
Again, in this
particular example, for
the message template
entered here, the fields
will be matched where
their corresponding tag
is placed, and will
produce the preview and
resulting broadcast
displayed below:
FIG 4.3. The Full Preview for
“Mailmerge into template”
The below image displays a
full preview of the messages
to be sent in the “Mailmerge
into template” method detailed
above
Note:
The full preview displays the
6 messages to be sent to all
6 recipients when
utilising the full preview
option
5.
Previewing Broadcasts
SMSwebinfo
highly recommends that you
preview ALL of your
broadcasts before you finally
send them out. It’s a great way
to verify that you have set-up
your broadcast correctly, and
you also get an idea about any
issues with particular messages
that are being lined up for
sending.
A full or quick preview of your
broadcast prior to sending, will
detail any invalid numbers in
your list (please note that the
SMS broadcaster only
details any numbers of more or
less than 10 numeric digits as
invalid Australian mobile
format), AND will also detail
any rows, which will be
attempting to send a message of
over 160 characters
5A.
Quick Preview
The quick preview feature allows
you to view any errors in your
broadcast, and a print out of
the messages to be sent to the
first 5 recipients on your list.
The total number of messages to
be sent is still detailed in the
message count (errors are NOT
included in the message count).
5B.
Complete Preview
The full preview feature allows
you to view any errors in your
broadcast (in the same way as
the quick preview), only the
full preview prints out ALL
of the messages to be sent to
ALL recipients on your list.
The total number of messages to
be sent is detailed in the
message count (errors are NOT
included in the message count).
6.
Errors and Warnings
Warnings
are displayed when previewing
messages in order to let users
know that certain messages are
not going to be transferred
unless action is taken to
correct them before sending.
Errors are displayed when
sending messages in order to
detail messages for which
parameters are incorrect, or
where numbers have been blocked
via the opt-out system
6A.
Warnings when Previewing
messages:
A full or quick preview of your
broadcast prior to sending, will
detail any invalid numbers in
your list. The SMS broadcaster
will identify any numbers of
more or less than 10 numeric
digits as being of an invalid
Australian mobile format. Either
preview will also detail any
messages in your broadcast,
which will end up having a
message to be sent, consisting
of more than 160 characters.
Possible Warnings:
Message over 160 Characters:
Invalid Mobile Number:
6B.
Errors when sending messages:
Clicking the “Send” button will
process your messages to our SMS
gateway for delivery. Any
messages that are over 160
characters, attempted to be sent
to an invalid Australian mobile
number (incorrect number of
digits), OR messages directed to
numbers that are blocked from
this system by the opt-out
feature, will be printed out as
errors, and these messages will
NOT be sent.
Possible Errors:
Message over 160 Characters and
STILL sent:
Invalid Mobile Number and STILL
sent:
Mobile Number, which has been
blocked:
7.
Opt-Outs
Responses to messages sent out
as part of broadcasts will be
directed back to you as arranged
with messagemedia. This
can be done via email, or
another of messagemedia’s
retail or partner products.
Messages from this system are
generally of a marketing nature,
and thus MUST comply with
SMS SPAMlaws by
including an option for
recipients to opt-out of
further marketing SMS’s. Thus if
people respond with this
request, it can be honored
via the opt-out feature.
7A.
Opting Out new numbers

will not be sent
messages and your
account will not be
billed for messages that
you attempt to send to
them.
This Opt-out list
applies to your
entire account. All
users on your account
will be blocked from
sending to the numbers
detailed in this list.
7C.
Restoring numbers (previously
opted-out)
Again, clicking “View
current opt-outs” will
display this window
(left):
The “Delete” links next
to each number in the
list allow you to remove
that corresponding
number from the list of
opt-outs for your
account.
Numbers removed from
this list will again be
eligible to be sent
messages from all users
on your account of any
product developed by
messagemedia or
their partners.
